ENUM Forum
Activity
The Irish ENUM Forum was set up in October 2003 on the initiative of the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg), the national regulatory authority. It delivered its Final Report in July 2005.
The ENUM Forum included representatives from both the Internet and the traditional Telecommunications industries, from ComReg, and from the University sector. Its work was steered and supported by a team from PA Consultants led by Colm Reilly, who acted as Chair of the Forum.
The ENUM Forum was active in two main areas. It oversaw the Engineering Trial of ENUM for the Irish dialling code (+353) and it laid the foundations for a policy framework for commercial ENUM services in Ireland.
The chief recommendations of the Forum's Final Report were that ENUM services be made available on a commercial basis as soon as there was sufficient interest, and that a Policy Advisory Board be set up to develop the policy framework for commercial ENUM services, based on the work of the Forum.
